Reuben James’s infectious musicality has drawn collaborators from across genres, from arena-filling artists such as Stormzy and Sam Smith to global icons including Herbie Hancock. These experiences mized with influences ranging from Frank Ocean, D’Angelo and Erykah Badu, he has developed a sound that moves fluidly between funk, jazz improvisation, classic soul and pop songwriting.
Following the acclaimed soul-inflected Champagne Kisses (2023), James returned with his third album Big People Music last year, an ambitious and expansive statement featuring a stellar cast including Jamie Cullum, Emeli Sandé, Jungle, Joe Armon-Jones, Theo Croker and Keyon Harrold. He creates an immersive world of deep grooves, soaring harmonies and irresistible melody, the sound of an artist at the height of his powers.
